Economic calendar and trading sessions

On gold, timing is almost as important as analysis: US announcements can move XAUUSD by tens of dollars in a few minutes. This tutorial shows how ChimTradeApp helps you spot those moments and prepare your sessions.

Setup: configure your session hours

ChimTradeApp splits the day into three sessions — Asia, London, and US — used everywhere: calendar, automatic session detection for a position, per-session statistics. To adapt them to your time zone:

  1. Open Settings → Sessions.
  2. Check the Start and End times of each session, expressed in your time zone (the one set in Settings → General).
  3. Click Save hours. Every recorded position will automatically be attached to the right session.

Steps: read the trading calendar

  1. Open the Calendar page: it displays the week in columns, each day split into three cells: Asia, London, and US.
  2. Navigate with the Previous week and Next week arrows, or return to the current week with Today.
  3. High-impact economic events appear directly in their session's cell, with their time (in your time zone) and currency: NFP, CPI, Fed decisions (FOMC)… These are the releases that trigger the strongest moves on gold.
  4. Your positions appear in the same cells, colored by result: win, loss, break-even, or still open. A star indicates that a news event was close to the trade.
  5. Each cell's "+" opens the position form with the session's date and time pre-filled.

In Settings → General, the Show USD news only option filters the calendar to keep only US announcements — the most important ones for XAUUSD — while Show all high-importance world news widens the view.

Follow the live gold price

The Gold price (XAU/USD) page complements the calendar:

  • Live price with the 24-hour change and the day's high and low, plus a Live or Market closed badge.
  • A candlestick chart from 1 minute to 1 week, refreshed automatically.
  • Your own positions overlaid on the chart: buy and sell triangles at their entry prices, to visually review your trades in their market context.

Prepare your London and New York sessions

A simple routine before each session:

  1. In the morning, open the Calendar and spot the day's events: no new position in the minutes before a major release like the NFP or CPI.
  2. Before London, check the Gold price page to see where the price stands relative to the previous day's high and low.
  3. During the US session (the one that concentrates US announcements and the peak of gold volatility), keep the calendar in sight and stick to your planned levels.
  4. After the session, journal your trades: the session will be detected automatically, and the Performance tab of the Analytics page will tell you over the weeks which session suits you best.

Key takeaways

  • The weekly calendar crosses your positions with economic news, session by session.
  • Session hours are customizable in Settings → Sessions.
  • The Gold price page shows the live price and your entries directly on the chart.
  • On gold, US announcements (NFP, CPI, Fed) are the moments where caution — or opportunity — is at its highest.
